Traditional Structure Snehankit Power Temple
The structure occupies 45 sq. meters or more

Snehankit Power Temple occupies just 9 sq. metres (Approximately 3m x 3m).

Separate meter room is required increasing the space requirement.

Metering system is part of the Snehankit Power Temple.
The Multi-pole structure is exposed to the weather conditions. Snehankit Temple is enclosed and not exposed to the weather conditions.
Transportation Transportation involves moving more than 2.5 Tons by many truckloads. The entire structure weighs just around 700 Kg. and can be transported in one truckload.
Operation & Maintenance Changing of the fuse is difficult due to height of the system (11 meters). Changing of the fuse can be done with ease and safety due to earthing switch.
Identification and rectification of faults is difficult during rains.

Power Temple being enclosed enables rectification of faults even during rains and storms.

As the connection/disconnection takes place just below the system, risks due to sparks to the operator is very high. The connection/disconnection takes place far away from the system, ensuring operator safety.
The overhead conductors can snap. Underground cabling, bus bars with insulation and the nut and bold arrangement ensure that the bus bar will not snap.
The metal structure being susceptible to rust requires periodic painting. No painting is required. The inside steel is galvanized and the outer fiberglass body is rust proof.
The structure gets affected by moisture. Snehankit Power Temple does not get affected by moisture because the outer surface is an insulating material for electricity.
Metering unit is exposed along with CT /PT thus leading to tampering and theft of electricity. Primary and Secondary CT /PT are totally enclosed preventing tampering and theft of electricity.
Eco-friendliness & Aesthetics Birds Sometimes get electrocuted and supply gets interrupted. Snehankit Power Temple has a canopy and is bird-proof. The Power Temple has rodent-proof and vermin proof construction.
The Metering room is of metal body causing Electrical and thermal conductivity and corrosion problems. Snehankit Power Temple uses FRP body avoiding the electrical, thermal and corrosion problems.
The structure is rudimentary and does not take into account aesthetics The FRP body underground cabling are available at affordable prices. They also make Snehankit Power Temple aesthetically appealing.

hence the name Power Temple. Colour Combinations used are Blue and Red for H .T. and L. T. sides and the unit is weather proof for tropical climates - giving protection to circuitry within from rain, wind, dust, bird droppings and unauthorized tampering.

Except for its operating lever, nothing is exposed and even the operating lever is designed to be locked only to be operated by authorized persons.


Comprises :

•  On-Off switching arrangement of H.T. supply together with H.T. metering and safety fuses.
 
•  An insulation material housing within which entire unit is installed with clearances kept to minimum, 
   as per I.E. Rules.
 
•  Insulators used are Raychem epoxy instead to porcelain, which reduces overall dimensions of the unit.

Snehankit Power Temple is a containerized switchgear and only needs to be placed on a raised R.C. pedestal connected to incoming supply and outgoing load cables. Unit is easy to lift, move and align.

Aesthetic and impressive in appearance, its attractive colours catch one's attention at the entrance of an installation site.


Objective behind the invention

The inventor being an electrical engineer with 20 years of electrical contracting experience with MSEB and industry, had experienced many problems with the existing 4 pole structures. These were mainly on account of :

•  Open atmosphere exposed system is uncomfortable while working during heavy downpour.

•  Faults developed in an open to atmosphere system are never-ending.

•  Life of components - insulators is less in an open system.

•  Though officially certified as safe, an open system can develop faults related to leakages which can be fatal.

•  Unwieldy dimensions of old system necessitated increase in the space requirements.

•  Old systems did not have moisture controlling facility.

•  Old system's metering unit was exposed and so also CT / PT primary and secondary, thus leading 
   to tampering and theft of electrical energy.

Therefore it was deemed necessary to design a system which would obviate all the above problems whilst also offering an aesthetically attractive unit, easy to handle, compact and above all, more safe with longer life.


R&D work and Prototype Fabrication

With the encouragement of MSEB authorities, it was possible to design a foolproof system - standardize on its manufacturing drawings and also develop a proto type complete in all respects ready for connecting to HT supply and load.

The inventor was in continuous liaison with MSEB authorities during the fabrication of prototype unit. Exhaust ventilating fans and rain water drainage system for slanting roof is also provided



The No Tension Choice for High Tension Consumers

•  Sparks falling on operator, faults caused due to birds, etc. are eliminated because the system is enclosed.

•  FRP enclosure, Unbreakable  glass, Epoxy / Porcelain Insulators & Underground cabling.

•  Primary and Secondary of CT / PT are totally enclosed. Easy access for maintenance: height is 
   less than 3 Meters, but the live contacts are not approachable.

•  Meter enclosure is tamper proof and allows opening only by authorized crew.

•  User friendly. G.O.D. (Gang Operating Devices) Operation has an easy to operate gear drive

•  Bus bars are made of copper and terminals are encased in High voltage (H.S.) Sleeves.

•  The front side gives easy access to the user. The doors will not open when G.O.D. is on.

•  Tamper proof-The back side of the Power Temple gives an exclusive access to the authorized 
   electricity board personnel.

•  Existence of Light Glass and Sight glass enable checking the condition of contacts.

•  Additional Safety - LT. Breaker tripping facility can be provided for off-load isolation.
